I didn't start out to make a series of "little devils". It just sort of happened. I was messing around in Procreate actually trying to develop a series of "template poses" that I could use to quickly construct characters without having to keep redrawing skeletal frames and whatnot. I will explain below what happened.
The First Red Kid.

I call this "The First Red Kid" because I didn't want to call him a devil. To me, all he was is a kid. He started out as a little kid. Then I drew the horns and it just worked so well with the expression. A little guy with his backpack and his grin and he's just saying hi. Even though there could be some mischievous intent there, there isn't. He's just hanging. I was thinking of how to do his clothes up. Originally I was thinking of some trademarked logos, or some parody trademarked logos and then I thought, "Nah, just go with plain black." I may revisit it for the parody logos, but for now, this is how that kid is going to stay.

The Next Red Kid
After the success of my first Red Kid drawing, I decided to play with the character a little and the template pose. I moved changed the left arm and put a bat in it. I believe I was originally thinking of something Zombie intended but added the ball cap. Once I did that I decided to go with Baseball. I wanted to design the shirt to be similar to a baseball jersey but something toddlers would wear. I went with what is known as a traditional baseball-style t-shirt with grey sleeves. I decided on 666 for obvious reasons and designed a logo for the hat. The rest was just coloring it in the black theme again.
Red Kid Sitting
If we are being honest which I always try to be, this one is a shoehorned piece. I had created another pose sitting and arms crossed and decided to turn it into the Red Kid. I was really struggling with what to put on the T-Shirt. So I decided to have him questioning society with his look of disappointment and mistrust. I didn't go with the all-black clothing this time because I wanted to play with some color in the image.

Red Kid Balloon v1
Ok, this one just came out while watching TV. I wanted to do something sort of childlike and I have had a history of drawing characters holding onto balloons. I do believe this is one of the first pictures where I was playing with an actual "uniform" for the character, something you would always see them in from drawing to drawing. I decided on a skeletal design. It felt very Halloween and I really like the way it came out. I might experiment with this version some more for more illustrations.
Red Kid Balloon v2
This of course is the same image as Red Kid Balloon v1, except a different outfit. I was playing around with the idea of the Illuminati and his actions and thoughts tying into that. I decided that I liked the skeletal version better, but thought I'd show this version as well. This one along with v1 really reminds me of the Harvey Comics character from Casper, Hot Stuff. That was not intentional.

That's it for now for my Devil Brigade. I have been thinking about doing some more poses and more illustrations featuring the "Red Kid". Not sure if that will happen or not but I do plan on releasing some "process" videos on my YouTube Channel StevieZeeArt. I will post links once they are online.
